The Center for Population and Health was founded in 1999 to establish a home for demographic research. Our work brings together researchers and partners from across the academic and scientific communities to explore and identify demographic trends and processes that affect human health. Much of the Center’s work has focused on how the social environment — position in hierarchies, social connection, and networks — “gets under the skin” to affect health. As described in many of our journal articles and edited volumes, these factors have powerful effects on physical, cognitive, and emotional health. CPH is located at Georgetown University in the heart of the historic Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C.
